This tour will showcase the majestic nature, rich culture and stunning beaches of Sri Lanka and the Maldives. During this tour you will have the opportunity to experience Sri Lanka in its main highlights, and to end on a high note we will take you to a fantastic island in the Maldives where you will have the chance to relax on one of the most beautiful islands, off the usual tourist routes of the archipelago, as well as enjoy numerous water activities.
This Sri Lanka and Maldives tour is specially designed as a honeymoon for couples who love outdoor activities and discovering new cultures without giving up comfort and relaxation on unspoiled beaches. One of our Italian-speaking drivers will take care of all your transfers in Sri Lanka.
The journey in Sri Lanka (ancient Ceylon) starts from the former capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo (the country’s main airport), and continues north towards Kurunegala with a visit to a fair trade project. The tour then proceeds to one of the ancient capitals, Anuradhapura, with its impressive stone tanks that collect monsoon rainwater, the Ruwanweli Stupa, and other interesting attractions.
You will then continue to Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya with their important UNESCO World Heritage historical sites, and to the caves of Dambulla, where you will admire the mural paintings depicting the life of Buddha.
The tour continues to Kandy and the Buddhist temple that houses the relic of the Tooth of Buddha, as well as visits to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and the Peradeniya Botanical Garden. Afterwards, we will visit the village of Pilimathalawa with its three temples; walking along rural paths you will observe a countryside landscape of rice paddies and organic gardens.
Your journey in Sri Lanka will conclude with a visit to the city of Nuwara Eliya, nicknamed “Little England” because during the British colonial period English generals took advantage of its altitude to escape the summer heat of the plains. Here you will visit the tea plantations and learn about the production process of one of the most widely consumed teas in the world.
The final part of this exciting journey will take you to the pristine beaches of the local (inhabited) island of Thinadhoo in the Maldives. Thinadhoo is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world for scuba diving thanks to its coral reefs, seabeds and colorful fish.
In Thinadhoo you can enjoy numerous activities, including Maldivian fishing, snorkeling, diving, water sports and other excursions to both inhabited and uninhabited islands, as well as trips to sandbanks. The island and the selected eco-resort offer a wide range of activities to suit all tastes, making it an ideal destination for families with children, romantic couples and those who love private, comfortable and peaceful retreats.

Summer (April-June) temperatures can get as high as 43-44°C, while early mornings and evenings are pleasant (18-24°C). Night time winter temperatures vary between 02-20°C, whereas days are sunny and pleasant (October-March). Rainfall is heavy in the monsoon season (mid-June to September) and average rainfall is 1400 mm.
The Maldives enjoy a year-round tropical climate, subject to the influence of the monsoons, winds that blow in different directions according to the seasons. December to May is considered to be the best time to visit Maldives. There are two seasons: the dry season of the “Iruvai”, monsoon from the Northeast, from December to May, and the rainy season of the “Hulhangu”, monsoon from the Southwest, from May to November. The wind that brings the rains blows from the southwest towards the northeast, whereas the winter monsoon (which brings the good weather) blows from the northeast to the southwest, bringing the dry season with little rain. Temperatures average 28°-31° all year round. The water temperature is always pleasant, around 27°-29°.
